Kolkata: The anticipatory bail plea of Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s personal assistant, Sumit Roy, remained unheard in the Calcutta HC on Thursday as the court is yet to assign a bench to hear the matter due to the absence of Justice Jay Sengupta.The matter was placed before Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya for determination on Thursday. However, Roy’s counsel was asked to wait until Friday, when acting chief justice Tapabrata Chakraborty is expected to assign the case to an appropriate bench.This is the second consecutive day that Roy’s counsel has moved from bench to bench seeking an urgent hearing. After mentioning the matter before the acting chief justice on Wednesday, the plea remained pending on Thursday as well.END
