A woman from Visakhapatnam who lost her arm in a road accident was fitted with a prosthetic hand developed by the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), giving her new lease of life.
The AMTZ, continuing its legacy of developing affordable and life-changing medical solutions, has created a strong capacity for Artificial Limbs benefiting thousands of Divyangjans. Designed to help individuals with upper limb amputations regain mobility and confidence, this state-of-the-art bionic hand is an example of how technology can transform lives.
On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Sharma, MD and Founder CEO of AMTZ, said that the “Vizag Hand” is more than a prosthetic but is a promise of dignity, resilience, and the legacy of the city having MedTech Zone.
The Assistive Technology Centre at AMTZ, supported by ICMR, New Delhi, has been integrating research, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing under one roof, ensuring that customised solutions reach underserved communities. The Divyangjan Community and groups from across the country are now collaborating with Assistive Technology Centre to bridge the gap between the needy and MedTech Zone’s Prosthetic Limb Centre.
