Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department and Administrator of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Tushar Giri Nath, has directed civic officials to prepare a timeline for restoring roads dug up by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
At a multi-stakeholders review meeting in Vikas Soudha on Tuesday, Mr. Giri Nath noted that several stretches were excavated for laying drinking water and sewer lines but had not been reinstated. He said about 7.3 km of roads remain affected and instructed officials to identify these stretches and commence restoration immediately.
He stressed that pothole-filling must be accelerated, particularly on arterial and sub-arterial roads. Traffic police have been asked to inspect repaired stretches to ensure quality.
Raising safety concerns, Mr. Giri Nath directed Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited to relocate transformers placed on footpaths and roadside areas. The utility has been asked to prepare a detailed list and initiate prompt action.
