Actor Ansiba to implead in case against AMMA ad hoc committee

Kochi: Actor Ansiba Hassan is set to implead in the case in which the Ernakulam munsif court issued an injunction order staying the functioning of an ad hoc committee constituted at the annual general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).Following a general body meeting, an ad hoc committee was formed with MLA Ramesh Pisharody as its head. However, soon after actor Shwetha Menon challenged it in court, he resigned. Hassan is planning to implead on an understanding that the stay is restricted to Pisharody alone and since she too has stake in the case, sources said. The next hearing of the case is on July 13.The move is in the aftermath of a long-running internal feud within the association.

Menon, who was elected the first-ever female president of the association in Aug 2025, had reportedly declared during a general body meeting that she and the entire executive committee stood resigned. However, later she maintained that she was still the president and had not submitted her resignation. She also received a favourable order from the munsif court. She had cited how the committee led by Mohanlal remained in office until a new committee was elected, even after its resignation.

Even as she obtained the court order, Joy Mathew, Jayan Cherthala and Kailash, who were in the committee led by Menon, resigned.Meanwhile, Hill Palace police registered an FIR against actor Lakshmipriya, her husband Jayesh and Tripunithura Women's Cell inspector Reshma based on the complaint of actor Hassan. Her allegation was that she was summoned to the station on a complaint by Lakshmipriya and harassed by police on Jan 30.

Hassan alleged that she was made to wait for nearly half an hour at the police station before being questioned for nearly an hour by SI Reshma.

Hassan also alleged that she was coerced into signing a station record stating that the dispute had been amicably settled. Kadavanthra police had earlier registered a case on the complaint filed by actor Hassan against actor Tini Tom as well.
