Actress Mahhi Vij, who has been making headlines after quitting the TV show Seher Hone Ko Hai, shared her take on dowry cases in India. She spoke against it, mentioning that one should teach their daughters not to adjust in marriage.Mahhi took to her Instagram handle and shared a video discussing the recent dowry cases in India. While discussing it, she penned a long note on why it’s important to teach daughters to respect themselves in marriages and not lose their identities. The post read, “Teach your daughters that marriage is not the end of their identity, and their parents’ home never stops being their home. Tell them that if they are ever disrespected, humiliated, emotionally broken, or made to feel unsafe, they can always come back without fear, shame, or guilt.”She further added, “Do not raise daughters to ‘just adjust’ at the cost of their dignity. Too often, women are taught to tolerate disrespect, cruelty, insults, and even violence in the name of saving a relationship or keeping a family together. Slowly, they begin to believe that suffering silently is strength. It is not. Teach them to recognize the difference between compromise and losing themselves. A relationship should never demand their self-respect, peace, or safety as a price to stay in it.
”The actress also mentioned, “If someone demeans you repeatedly, disrespects your existence, destroys your confidence, or raises a hand on you, whether it is a husband, in-laws, or anyone else, remember this: walking away is not weakness. Choosing yourself is not selfish. Stand up. Walk out if you must. Rebuild if you have to. But never stay where your dignity is destroyed. Nothing is greater than your self-respect.
