Schefter recently spoke to USA TODAY Sports during NFL training camps, which are happening now across the U.S. He said that many people don’t know they have Type 1 diabetes, and getting screened early is very important.
Adam Schefter breaks down diabetes type 1 story and contract issues in Bengals, Cowboys, Commanders camps
Schefter’s wife, Sharri Schefter, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as an adult. After seeing her go through daily struggles, he joined hands with Sanofi, a healthcare company, to spread awareness.
“It’s so important to take that first step and make a plan,” Schefter said. “Talk to your doctor about screening. Do it for yourself and your family.”
While camps began this week, Adam Schefter pointed out a few players who are not practicing due to contract disputes. One of the biggest ones is with Trey Hendrickson, a veteran edge rusher for the Cincinnati Bengals. Hendrickson left camp and is now in Florida, asking for a 3-year guaranteed deal like other top players.
The team has only offered him 1 year of guaranteed money.Another case involves rookie edge rusher Shemar Stewart, also from the Bengals. He delayed signing his rookie contract over disagreements about the language in the deal. According to Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Stewart finally signed on Friday, after the Bengals added an extra $550,000 in bonus money.Schefter said, “Somebody’s got to give up something.
Get the deal done and get the young man on the field.”Schefter also mentioned that Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys and Terry McLaurin of the Washington Commanders are also in talks about new contracts. Also Read: Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Baby Name Reveal In Missouri Sparks A Viral Fan Frenzy
