The Centre has assured that Telangana will have adequate supplies of fertilisers during the ongoing Kharif 2026 season, with Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy stating that the Centre has taken proactive steps to ensure farmers do not face shortages despite global disruptions.

In a statement, Mr. Kishan Reddy said the Centre had supplied fertilisers to Telangana well above the projected requirement during the Rabi 2025-26 season. Against an estimated requirement of 10.40 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of urea, 12.01 LMT was made available. Similarly, while the State’s requirement for DAP stood at 1.45 LMT, the Centre supplied 2.55 LMT. In the case of NPK fertilisers, 9.47 LMT was supplied against the projected demand of 7 LMT.

He said the same approach was being followed during the current Kharif season, with urea allocations already exceeding projected demand while adequate stocks of DAP and NPK fertilisers were being maintained.

Mr. Kishan Reddy also said the Ramagundam Fertilisers & Chemicals Limited plant was operating at full capacity and that the production issues witnessed during the previous Rabi season had been resolved. This, he said, would ensure uninterrupted production and timely supplies to farmers in Telangana during the ongoing agricultural season.

He said the responsibility for efficient last-mile distribution rested with the State government and urged it to ensure equitable distribution of fertilisers across districts, prevent diversion of subsidised fertilisers for non-agricultural purposes and black marketing.
