Adi Kailash yatra to begin on May 1

Pithoragarh: The portals of the Shiv Dham at Jolingkong will open on May 1, marking the commencement of the Adi Kailash Yatra. All departments have been directed to ensure a safe journey for tourists and pilgrims.At a meeting of various departments on Wednesday, district magistrate Ashish kumar Bhatgai said, “Online registration for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) will begin on April 28 while offline registration will start on May 1. ILP is mandatory to undertake the Adi Kailash yatra, and it will be valid for four days. The pass will be issued by Dharchula SDM.”Tourists and pilgrims can collect medical certificates and police verification from centres at Dharchula and Pithoragarh.Adi Kailash is situated at an altitude of 5,945 m in Byas valley of Dharchula tehsil. Last year, 36,000 tourists visited Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, and the number is expected to touch 50,000 this year.
