After ‘no work’ row, IAS officer Rinkoo Singh Rahee withdraws ‘technical resignation’

Lucknow: After creating a stir by tendering “technical resignation”, seeking to be sent back to an earlier posting in the social welfare department as he alleged that he was not getting work in his current posting, 2023 batch IAS officer Rinkoo Singh Rahee has taken back his resignation.Sources in the govt confirmed the development. Despite repeated attempts, Rahee could not be contacted for comment. In his resignation tendered about a month ago to the President of India, the officer, currently attached to the revenue board, expressed discontent over not being given a field posting for the past eight months. He later clarified that he did not want to leave his govt job.“Some people tender resignation as they do not like govt work.

But I like govt work and I have tendered a technical resignation. If you are not letting me work here, then send me back to a place where I can work,” Rahee said in the letter.Rahee was a PCS officer in UP before he sat for the IAS examination and was selected in 2023.Rahee was transferred to Shahjahanpur as joint commissioner just six days before he was attached to the revenue board, after he made a lawyer do squats for urinating in the open.

On being surrounded by lawyers who took up the matter of dirty toilets in the tehsil, Rahee also did five squats, a video of which went viral.Soon after this incident, he was attached to the revenue board, often seen as a punishment posting.Rahee also refused to accept salary for two months in 2025 as he did no work.In 2009, as a PCS officer posted in social welfare in the BSP govt, Rahee reportedly brought several matters of corruption to light, after which he was threatened by the then principal secretary and later shot at by unidentified assailants, which left his face partially paralysed.
