A day after rebel MLAs of the Trinamool Congress removed party founder and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the post of chairperson at a meeting held in Kolkata, she has fired back with a reconstituted National Working Committee list and submitted it to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The faction led by her on Tuesday submitted the list, in which Mamata Banerjee has been named Chairperson of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
The document, signed by Banerjee, also names Subrata Bakshi as Vice President, Abhishek Banerjee as National General Secretary and Lok Sabha leader, Derek O’Brien as Joint Secretary and Rajya Sabha leader, Dola Sen as Joint Secretary, and Subhasish Chakraborty as Treasurer.
Her faction maintains that the list was finalised by the former chief minister before the rebel camp constituted its own National Working Committee and was subsequently sent to the Election Commission as the official organisational structure of the Trinamool Congress under her leadership.
According to leaders loyal to Mamata Banerjee, the party’s leadership structure and a 24-member National Working Committee were finalised on Saturday, and the list was submitted to the EC on Monday afternoon, before the dissident camp led by Leader of Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee held its special session in Kolkata.
