After 'Wanted', Boney Kapoor bags Hindi rights for Tamil satire Jiiva’s 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' - Reports

Producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the Hindi remake rights for the Tamil political satire 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' after being impressed by its screenplay and narrative. The film, which successfully ran in theaters, will now be adapted for Bollywood, with Kapoor aiming to replicate his past successes in transforming South Indian hits into Hindi blockbusters.

A successful theatrical run has now opened doors for the Tamil political satire 'Thalaivar Thambi Thanimaiyil' (TTT). The film is now reportedly heading to Bollywood. The Hindi remake rights of the film were bagged by producer Boney Kapoor, who has previously produced Ajith's 'Valimai' and 'Thunivu'.

The Pongal release of this film has now become a pan-Indian release. With the terrific reception it has courted from audiences and netizens across social media platforms, and the appreciation for its methodical planning and logical storytelling, this movie will now be remade in Hindi.

Boney Kapoor’s first encounter with 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil'

Boney Kapoor came across the film earlier this year at a theatre in Coimbatore while he was there for the Celebrity Cricket League.

According to News 18, Boney Kapoor saw ‘Thailaivar Thambi Thalimaiyil’ at a local theatre and was impressed by its screenplay, cinematography, and narrative choreography. He was very much blown away by the way the film seamlessly fuses political and sentimental comedy, thereby establishing a unique impact on him.

Soon after he finished watching the film, he contacted the makers of the film to acquire the remake rights in Hindi and thus, the ball was set in motionThe deal for the Hindi remake of 'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' was officially finalized during the film's celebratory success party in Chennai on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Boney Kapoor, who secured the rights, carries a legendary reputation for transforming South Indian hits into Bollywood gold.His track record spans decades, from early successes like 'Woh Saat Din', 'Judaai', and 'Sirf Tum' to modern hits like 'Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai' and 'Khushi'. Perhaps his most transformative move was producing 'Wanted,' the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster 'Pokiri' which famously reset Salman Khan’s career.

With this new acquisition, expectations are high that Kapoor will once again deliver a powerful adaptation.
