Agra man held for stabbing wife to death

Agra: A 42-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death at her parental home in Agra’s Tajganj area following a domestic dispute, police said on Wednesday.The incident took place on Tuesday evening when Ranveer alias Ranu, a cold storage employee and resident of Pawawali village, went to his in-laws’ house, where his wife Kunti Devi had been staying. Police said the couple, married for 21 years, had been living separately for the past nine months and a community meeting had been convened to resolve the dispute.During an argument, Ranveer allegedly took out a knife and attacked Kunti, leaving her critically injured. Police reached the spot after receiving a Dial 112 call, detained Ranveer and recovered the alleged murder weapon.Kunti was taken to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Police said the couple had two children.Based on a complaint lodged by Kunti’s brother, an FIR was registered at Tajganj police station under section 103(1) (murder) of BNS and section 4/25 of the Arms Act. “The accused has been arrested and further legal proceedings are underway,” Agra (city) DCP Sayed Ali Abbas said.
