Ahmedabad sweats at 40.8°C, likely to get hotter

Ahmedabad: With the southwest monsoon stalled at Surat, the maximum temperature remained high in several cities of Gujarat on Saturday. Rajkot was the hottest, at 40.9°C, followed closely by Ahmedabad at 40.8 °C.In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature was 4 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature at 29.5°C was 2.3 degrees above normal. The Met forecast indicated a chance of the city recording 41°C on Sunday. Across the state, the forecast indicated no change in maximum temperatures for the next seven days.On Saturday, Hadad in Banaskantha received 30mm of rainfall till 8pm, followed by Danta (Banaskantha) at 8mm , Poshina (Sabarkantha) at 5mm, Govind Guru Limdi (Dahod) at 2mm, and Jhalod (Dahod) at 1mm.From July 1, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and other parts of south Gujarat are likely to experience heavy rain and thunderstorm.Overall, despite partially cloudy weather, cities and towns such as Deesa, Gandhinagar, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Surendranagar and Kandla recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C or above on Saturday.
