A startling incident was reported at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital after a one-and-a-half-year-old child accidentally swallowed a plastic toy while playing.

The child, identified as Vansh, soon showed signs of discomfort and began vomiting, leaving his mother shocked and alarmed.

Mother Notices Missing Toy, Rushes Child To Hospital

Vansh was playing at home when he suddenly started crying continuously. His mother, Bhavika, grew suspicious and noticed that one of his toys was missing. When she questioned him, the child indicated that he had swallowed the toy.

Realising the seriousness of the situation, the family immediately rushed him to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.

X-Ray Reveals Full ‘Hulk’ Toy Inside Stomach

Doctors conducted an X-ray examination, which revealed a surprising and alarming finding – the entire plastic toy was lodged inside the child’s stomach. It was not a broken piece but a complete toy figure shaped like the Avengers character Hulk, with its head, hands, and legs intact.

Dr Rakesh Joshi, part of the treating medical team, explained that the biggest challenge was removing such a large object through the natural valve between the food pipe and the stomach. He said the toy repeatedly slipped when doctors tried to hold it using a delicate instrument like an endoscope, mainly because of the air present in the stomach.

Risk Of Permanent Damage Avoided With Precision

Dr Joshi further explained that pulling the toy by its hands or legs could have caused it to get stuck in the valve, potentially leading to permanent damage.

After a great deal of patience and precision, the doctors managed to firmly grip the end of the toy and carefully pull it past the valve without causing injury.

Doctors warned that if the toy had moved further into the intestine, there would have been a serious risk of intestinal rupture, which would have required surgical intervention. Fortunately, the medical team was able to remove the toy successfully before any such complications arose.

Doctors Issue Warning To Parents

Following the procedure, Vansh is now completely safe and recovering well.

Doctors have advised parents to remain extremely vigilant, especially when giving small or plastic toys to young children. As children are innocent and unaware of potential dangers, constant supervision is essential to prevent such life-threatening accidents.
