AI browsing on iPhone? Perplexity’s Comet is coming

New Delhi: Perplexity’s AI browser Comet is a well-known AI browser. Now it has been officially announced that Comet is now all set to arrive for iPhone users next month. As per the official listing of Comet on the Apple App Store, the application will be available for users starting March 11. The Get button is currently visible on the application listing on the Apple App Store. The application listing features pictures revealing how the Comet AI browser will look on iPhones. But for now, Comet is currently available for Mac, Windows, and Android.

It is highlighted that the AI browser was released by Perplexity for Android users last year in November, and now it is set to make its debut on the iPhone soon. Comet also shifts browsing from simple page viewing to a more interactive, dialogue-driven experience for the users.

According to the company, it is going to bring everything into a single interface that will understand what the users are trying to do, by cutting down the need to jump between multiple tabs or separate applications. It can also handle entire browsing sessions by helping organize tasks, simplify workflows, and reduce interruptions by including ads.

The browser is positioned as being useful for comparing products, conducting research, or working through more complicated queries. A side-panel assistant can also generate a page summary, and it responds to questions and carries out actions such as booking hotels, sending emails, or completing online purchases. There is also an integrated assistant that delivers context-aware responses based on whatever content is now displayed on the screen.

Perplexity also describes Comet as the browser for agentic search, underscoring its broader push into AI-led tools that focus on helping users handle more involved tasks without constant manual effort. The Agentic Search refers to an AI-based method in which the system interprets intent and context to independently execute multi-step actions and to gather relevant information.

Comet is to be built around Perplexity’s own search engine by delivering AI-generated answers compiled from sources across the web.
