Dehradun: AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal on Thursday urged Congress leaders in Uttarakhand to put aside their differences and work together, saying the party’s unity would be crucial for the 2027 assembly election. On the first day of his two-day visit to Uttarakhand, Venugopal held separate meetings with senior leaders, district and Mahanagar presidents, and reviewed the political situation across districts as well as the party’s organisational expansion. He also chaired a meeting of the newly constituted political affairs committee (PAC) of the Pradesh Congress, attended by state in charge Kumari Selja, state president Ganesh Godiyal, leader of opposition Yashpal Arya and senior Congress leader Pritam Singh, among others.

Leaders discussed the party’s strategy and roadmap for the 2027 state polls.Later, Venugopal reviewed the functioning of the party’s frontal organisations, departments and cells. He urged leaders to strengthen coordination and prepare the organisation. He also asked party workers to gear up for a mass movement, saying Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI and Seva Dal should reach out to people and highlight what the party described as the BJP govt’s anti-people policies.

Godiyal said, “Directions were given to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots. Presidents of all wings have been asked to activate their committees up to the booth level and connect more youth and women with the party.” He added that Venugopal’s message of unity had infused fresh enthusiasm among party workers in the state.
