A job fair, organised by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Wednesday, witnessed around 20,000 youths. Employment opportunities at the fair ranged from gig work to positions in IT and related services.

According to organisers, the event was supported by nearly 600 volunteers, who assisted in managing the huge footfall. The third edition of the job fair recorded a two-fold increase in attendance compared to the previous fair, which had attracted around 10,000 participants.

MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain said that in the run-up to the job fair, training sessions were organised for aspirants covering various skills, including drafting resumes, and understanding how to avoid plagiarism in such documents.

“There was a five-day training session, followed by a one-day training. If you see, youth often indulge in copy-pasting CVs. We wanted to ensure that they do not do this, and they are drafted in accordance with their skills and qualifications. There cannot be a one-size-fits-all CV,” Mr Hussain said, adding that the job fairs were part of AIMIM’s pre-election promise.

While over 2,000 candidates received job offers on the spot, several hundred others are scheduled to appear for subsequent rounds of interviews at the companies’ offices. Mr Hussain expressed optimism that the number of final job offers would rise significantly in the coming weeks.

“We will be doing this exercise every four or five months, and on the advice of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. It is a labour and logistics-intensive initiative. From what we have understood, more such platforms are required. There is talent, and companies want such people,” he said.

Mukarram Ali Siddiqui, a member of Mr. Hussain’s team, pointed out the significant presence of women at the fair and noted that jobs suitable for differently-abled individuals were also available. “Job offers ranged from gig work to IT and IT-enabled services,” he said.

The AIMIM has indicated plans to continue holding such fairs at regular intervals to address the employment aspirations of the youth.
