RAIPUR: An air squadron unit of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will soon be operational at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. The move marks a historic development for the region and is expected to open new career avenues for tribal and rural youth.
This will be the third CG air NCC squadron in the state.Until now, air wing NCC training in Chhattisgarh was restricted to Raipur, but chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai had decided to expand air squadrons to towns with functional airstrips like Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, and Jashpur.CM Sai personally kickstarted the cadet registration process by pinning the NCC badges on 25 meritorious students, including 13 girls and 12 boys, selected for the new Air Squadron unit.
He and emphasized that such opportunities can lead the youth towards national service and personal growth. On the occasion, Wing Commander Vivek Kumar Sahu was present among other prominent attendees.Earlier this year in March, the Agdeeh airstrip in Jashpur was officially approved for use by the 3 CG NCC Air Squadron, and a microlight aircraft was sent for training purposes. Around 100 cadets were given actual flight experience during the training sessions.
CM Sai even visited the airstrip, interacted with the cadets, and inspected their training modules. The 3 CG Air NCC Squadron is reportedly the only air squadron in India that includes cadets from AIIMS, MBBS, and nursing programs. This unique inclusion strengthens the talent pool and expands NCC’s outreach into professional education spheres. This initiative is a step in transforming Jashpur into a hub of disciplined, trained, and future-ready youth.
