RAIPUR: A composed unbeaten knock by Aishwarya Singh powered Chhattisgarh to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Gujarat in the Senior Women’s Inter State T20 Trophy 2024-25, organised by the Gujarat Cricket Association at Ahmedabad.
After winning the toss on Friday, Chhattisgarh opted to field first and their bowlers put up a disciplined show, restricting Gujarat to just 93 for 6 in 20 overs. Krishna Patel (25), Zeel Mithaiwala (19) and Kanak Patel (15) were the main contributors for the hosts, while Chhattisgarh’s attack kept the batters in check. Priti Yadav, Shreya Shriwas and Mahak Narwase picked up one wicket apiece, striking at regular intervals to ensure Gujarat never gained momentum.
Chasing a modest 94, Chhattisgarh were anchored by Aishwarya Singh, who played a match-winning knock of 48 not out. Displaying calmness and timing under pressure, Singh guided the innings with crucial partnerships, ensuring the chase remained on track. She was well supported by Neha Badwaik, who chipped in with 23 runs. Despite Gujarat’s Pushti Nadkarni claiming all three wickets, Chhattisgarh crossed the line in 17.3 overs.
With the seven-wicket win, Chhattisgarh began their campaign on a high.
