Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) chairman and MLA for Jewargi Ajay Singh on Saturday expressed confidence that he would secure a ministerial berth in the next Cabinet reshuffle, which he anticipated would be in October.

Interacting with presspersons at the KKRDB headquarters in Kalaburagi, Mr. Singh said he had openly expressed his aspiration to become a Minister within the party.

“I don’t want to make any comment that could harm the party’s image. But yes, I have clearly and freely communicated my desire for a ministerial role at the appropriate party forum,” he said.

When asked about ongoing speculation regarding a possible change of the Chief Minister in the State, Mr. Singh said that he was unaware of any such development within the party.

“I have no information about any leadership change in Karnataka. Such matters are normally discussed at the top levels. As far as I know, there is no such understanding about a change after a particular period,” he said.

He also clarified that he had not raised the issue during the recent meeting of legislators convened by All India Congress Committee general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala.

“I only shared my views on the implementation of guarantee schemes and issues concerning my constituency,” he added.

Focusing on the developmental work being undertaken by the KKRDB in the region, Mr. Singh said that the board was committed to strengthening the education sector in Kalyana Karnataka and would work closely with the Department of Education to implement several initiatives.

“Merely releasing funds is not enough. We need a multi-pronged approach for holistic educational development. This includes improving student and teacher attendance, sparking learning interest among children, and ensuring adequate staffing and infrastructure,” he said.

Mr. Singh also informed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would lay the foundation stone for hostels dedicated to students from minority and backward communities in Koppal on August 4.
