An old video of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj has gone viral on social media. The clip is from 2023, when the spiritual guru was walking on the expressway while returning from Agra. During this walk, he met Akhilesh Yadav, who was travelling on the same route.

In the video, Akhilesh Yadav is seen questioning the use of the word ‘Shudra’ to which Aniruddha Maharaj gave a reply which did not impress Yadav. He then says to Aniruddha Maharaj, “From today, our path and your path are different." This remark quickly became the centre of attention, leading to political and religious debates online.

After the video resurfaced, Aniruddhacharya Maharaj responded while addressing a gathering of devotees. He said, “I want to ask Akhilesh Yadav, can he say the same thing to a Muslim – that our path and your path are different?"

He continued saying, “You have been the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. When the thinking of a king is like this, one can guess the direction of the state." He added that he did not make any objectionable statement during that meeting. According to him, Akhilesh raised the issue on his own while talking about the word ‘Shudra’.

Aniruddhacharya Maharaj also said the episode shows “ill-will" towards the Sanatan saints. He further added that the use of such statements by a political leader reflects a narrow mindset.

The video and the recent reply have triggered strong reactions from both sides. Supporters of Akhilesh Yadav and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj are sharing their views across various social media platforms. Some are calling the comment political, while others are calling it disrespectful to Hindu saints.
