Lucknow: Two of the most prestigious medals awarded by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will go to girl students at the convocation ceremony on July 7, with both top honours heading to students from private colleges in Ghaziabad.The Chancellor’s Gold Medal will be presented to Anshika Rana, a BTech student in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The medal recognises the university’s best-performing graduating student across all faculties and programmes based on the highest cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Rana secured a CGPA of 9.40.AKTU’s second special honour, the Smt Kamal Rani Varun Memorial Gold Medal, will also be awarded to a student from Ghaziabad.
Ishika will receive the medal, which is given to the Scheduled Caste girl student in BTech who secures the highest marks in the university.University officials said the names of the two medal recipients were finalised during an examination committee meeting held on Thursday. The committee’s recommendations are scheduled to be placed before the academic council on Friday for final approval.In total, AKTU will confer medals on 178 meritorious students spanning 16 academic groups during the convocation. Indian Oil Corporation chairman and managing director Arvind Singh Sahney will attend as the chief guest.
In another first, AKTU will introduce an Academic Excellence Award to recognise outstanding teachers. Eligible applicants must have served continuously for at least three years at their respective institutions. Four teachers will be selected — three from affiliated colleges and one from an AKTU constituent institution — through an evaluation framework carrying 500 marks across academic and professional parameters.BoxDSMNRU convocation on July 31Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) will hold its convocation ceremony on July 31. For the first time, the university will felicitate students who emerged winners in various competitions organised by the institution. The awardees are school students from villages adopted by DSMNRU.
