Officials have issued a warning to fishermen and farmers on Sunday (July 6, 2025), not to venture into the Krishna river or its tributaries, due to the increased release of water from Maharashtra reservoirs.

Due to heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra, release from its reservoirs has increased to 1.045 cusecs, that would raise levels in the Krishna and tributaries.

By noon on Sunday, the inflow into the Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir on the Krishna in Almatti would increase. This has forced officials to increase the outflow from the Krishna to about 1.15 lakh cusecs. This would not only water levels downstream river and channels, but also increase in the inflow into the Basava Sagar dam.

Irrigation Department officials requested the Revenue and Panchayat Raj and Urban Development officials to alert residents of river bank villages and towns in various districts, said a release.
