Lucknow: The condition of Jayant Gupta, 26, one of the survivors of the devastating Aliganj fire on Monday, continued to remain critical on Tuesday.Gupta is recuperating in the ICU of the Trauma Centre of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) due to severe back and burn injuries he suffered after jumping from the second floor of the building to escape the fire.According to a medical bulletin issued on Tuesday, Jayant sustained burns to both upper limbs, a vertebral injury and multiple rib fractures. He is being managed by a multidisciplinary team with oxygen support, antibiotics and continuous monitoring.While medical teams from different departments regularly monitor the situation, the plastic surgery team provides burn wound care. Several diagnostic tests like MRI were done.
Reports are awaited, said doctors.Hospital authorities said Jayant’s condition is critical, but stable at present, and he remains under close observation.Of the nine injured people brought to KGMU, seven were discharged on Monday itself as they had minor injuries. However, 24-year-old Luvpreet Kaur, who also suffered back injuries, was discharged on Tuesday afternoon after her condition improved.
