Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust receives resignations from Champat Rai and Anil Mishra amid Ram Temple donation probe, FIR filed, 8 arrested.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has confirmed that it has received the resignation letters of its General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra amid an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities involving donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Trust said it was “shocked, hurt and deeply saddened" by the developments surrounding the alleged donation-related irregularities and reaffirmed its commitment to a fair investigation.
The Trust said the resignations would be considered at its next meeting.
“The Trust has received a resignation letter from Shri Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and from trustee Shri Anil Mishra. The Trust will consider the matter in its upcoming meeting," the statement said.
Seeking to reassure devotees, the Trust asserted that all silver bricks, ornaments and other offerings donated to the Ram Temple remain safe and have been properly documented.
It said devotees who personally handed over valuables to the Trust need not worry, as all such offerings are securely stored with complete records.
Addressing the alleged financial irregularities, the Trust said it had already lodged an FIR based on an interim report submitted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh administration at the Trust’s request.
The Trust said legal proceedings were underway and promised strict action against those found guilty, adding that measures would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The statement also accused “anti-social, irreligious and self-serving elements" of attempting to tarnish the image of Sanatan Dharma and urged the public not to believe rumours or misinformation surrounding the case.
The resignations come days after police arrested eight people in connection with the alleged donation scam, during which authorities reportedly seized cash and valuables linked to the investigation.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal criticised the resignations, alleging they were an attempt to shield those responsible rather than ensure accountability. He also questioned why the arrested accused were not taken into police custody for further interrogation and claimed the investigation was being diluted.
