Raipur: Chhattisgarh Congress in charge Sachin Pilot on Thursday demanded an inquiry into media reports alleging that family members of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav and real estate firms linked to them purchased large tracts of land in Ujjain, saying the allegations raised questions of “morality, corruption, and the possible misuse of public office.
”Speaking at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, Pilot said the reports had triggered serious concerns and required a clarification from the BJP leadership. He alleged the ruling party applies different standards when corruption-related allegations involve its own leaders as opposed to those from the opposition.“Such a major revelation has come to light. The name of the Madhya Pradesh CM and his family members has reportedly surfaced in a significant land-related matter.
Questions naturally arise regarding morality, corruption, and the possible misuse of public office,” Pilot said.He also accused the BJP of adopting a “double standard” in its public response to allegations. “When issues related to corruption or ethical conduct arise, why does the BJP follow dual standards? There appears to be a clear double standard. Despite the seriousness of the revelations reported in newspapers, no satisfactory clarification has been provided so far,” he said.Pilot said elected representatives are accountable to citizens and argued that transparency is essential when questions arise about land deals and potential conflicts of interest.
