New Delhi: Amazon has officially debuted its latest personality feature for its Alexa+, enabling users to customize how the voice assistant responds to their questions and requests. The users can now choose from three conversation styles: Brief, Chill, and Sweet, depending on the tone and interaction style they prefer.
Rather than focusing on what Alexa can do, this latest upgrade focuses on how it communicates. The feature is especially designed to make Alexa+ feel more personalized by offering users more control over whether they want short and direct answers or more expressive and conversational responses.
Alexa+ is an AI-powered version of Amazon’s digital assistant Alexa. It aims to answer most of the users complex questions, plan, summarize information, shop, manage calendars, and coordinate across multiple users. Alexa+ is now available on Echo devices, via the Alexa applications, and on the web. Brief is meant for the users who prefer quick and direct answers; it avoids small talk and extra details, delivering information in a concise and efficient way.
Chill personality offers the relaxed and easygoing tone. The company stated that responses feel more conversational, similar to speaking with a laid-back friend, while still offering the needed information. Sweet personality also adds warmth and enthusiasm to interactions with the users; this style also responds with encouragement and positivity, focusing on making everyday exchanges feel more uplifting.
Creating these personality styles requires adjusting multiple aspects of communication. Each style is built around the five dimensions: expressiveness, emotional openness, formality, directness, and humour.
The users can switch styles at any time; they want to say Alexa, change your personality style to their Echo device or adjust it through the Alexa application under device settings. Alexa+ also enables users to pair personality styles with different voice options. In the Alexa application, the users can select from multiple voice choices under the device settings.
Personality styles are now available to Alexa+ customers in the US, with Amazon indicating that further upgrades may follow.
