Panchkula: Ambala MP Varun Chaudhary Monday directed officials to complete development works within stipulated timelines to ensure residents receive the benefits of govt schemes without delay.Chairing a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the PWD Rest House in Sector 1, Chaudhary reviewed 90 ongoing development projects across the district and sought progress reports from officials.He said the committee’s primary objective was to ensure that the benefits of central govt welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries. He also suggested that officials meeting deadlines and delivering commendable performance be recognised during future meetings.Chaudhary directed departments to share brochures and catalogues of welfare schemes with public representatives to help create wider public awareness.Among key directions, he asked panchayati raj officials to install a new generator set at the Morni dispensary within 10 days and directed the deputy commissioner to submit a status report. He also instructed the chief medical officer to deploy three ambulances for residents of the Morni hill area.
Reviewing the functioning of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras, the MP sought detailed feedback and stressed the need to achieve targets for opening more such centres. He directed that the Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Sector 6 Civil Hospital be shifted to the hospital’s main entrance to improve accessibility.He also asked the CMO to extend the centre’s operating hours into the evening and install signages within the hospital to enhance awareness about affordable medicines.The MP directed municipal corporation officials to maintain cleanliness at public toilets and explore revenue generation through advertisements on their exteriors.He further instructed irrigation department officials to expedite stone-pitching and causeway works and submit completion reports along with photographs.
