'Amogh Jwala': Indian Army Exercise Demonstrates Multi-Domain Warfighting Capability

The Indian Army’s Southern Command concluded a significant war exercise, ‘Amogh Jwala’, showcasing future battle strategies, integrating technology with traditional combat techniques.

‘Amogh Jwala’ was held at the Babina Field Firing Ranges from March 6 to 18. Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, commended the troops for their adept execution and readiness.

Lt Gen Seth highlighted that modern warfare extends beyond land battles, encompassing air, cyber, and space domains, all operating in real-time. The core objective was to test the seamless operation of various military arms.

Tanks and mechanised units coordinated with attack helicopters and fighter aircraft, while drones provided live surveillance and quick target identification. Anti-drone systems were also evaluated.

A key focus of the war exercise was speed, with an emphasis on rapid decision-making supported by real-time information. Advanced communication systems ensured ground commanders had a clear battlefield picture at all times.

Precision was also showcased, with targets engaged accurately to minimise errors. Night operations were smoothly conducted, indicating enhanced capabilities.

Another highlight was the integration of air and land operations. Managing airspace for drones alongside ground manoeuvres is complex, yet the exercise proved such coordination feasible.

The army explored new troop organisation methods and emerging technologies. Combining electronic warfare and air defence systems provided an additional advantage.

Notably, the approach has shifted from merely focusing on firepower to prioritising coordination, speed, and information. The battlefield is becoming more interconnected, and the army is adapting accordingly.

‘Amogh Jwala’ conveys a clear message — the Indian Army is gearing up for future wars fought across multiple domains. The exercise underscored the importance of agility, responsiveness, and readiness for any challenge.
