Ananya Panday reveals why she wanted Gauri Khan to design her dream home: 'If she were doing this for Suhana'

Ananya Panday marked a deeply personal milestone in 2023 by purchasing her first apartment in Bandra. She told Bollywood Hungama, “Honestly, it was a sentimental decision. I grew up around her, she’s almost been a second mother to me.

She really knew me. She even said that if she were doing this for Suhana, she would have done something very similar.”Collaborative design processAnanya truly appreciated Gauri Khan’s way of working together. She shared, “Even though she’s known me since I was a kid, she took me seriously. She understood it was my first house and let me make my own choices. Everything was a conversation—‘Would you like this?’ ‘Do you want to try that?’ Interior design is so personal, and she respected that.”

Signature style and family reactionsGauri brought her unique style to the project as well. Ananya shared in an interview with Architectural Digest India that one of Gauri’s important ideas was to have all the doors flush, which immediately gave the space a sleeker look. Ananya’s parents have also noticed a change in her behavior. During a house tour with Asian Paints, Chunky Panday joked, “She destroyed our house a couple of times, but with her house, she is very particular.

” Her mother Bhavana added, “You have to leave your shoes outside and hold your cup properly.”Attention to detail and personal touchesAnanya was very particular about features like having an open closet because she felt she couldn’t properly see all her clothes. The wallpaper in her home was custom-made specifically for her. She also wanted a vanity-style mirror with lights to create a film set-like feel. Although she initially resisted adding pink to her home, she now can’t imagine it without that color. She was certain about using pastel colors and described the entire process as a journey of self-discovery—a first step toward understanding the kind of person she is.
