Former Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on Saturday accused the State government of showing a stepmotherly attitude towards Srikakulam district, alleging complete neglect in the past year. He pointed out that not even ₹1,000 crore had been allocated for pending irrigation and development projects, underlining the lack of commitment to the backward region.

Participating in the YSR Congress Party’s Assembly constituency-level review meeting at the party office in Srikakulam, Mr. Prasada Rao was joined by YSRCP district president Dharmana Krishnadas and Parliamentary wing in-charge Kumbha Ravibabu.

He expressed disappointment over the stagnation of key infrastructure works, including the Vamsadhara, Thotapalli, Narayanpur, and offshore projects, due to inadequate funding.

‘No plan to quit YSRCP’

Addressing recent speculation about a possible political shift, Mr. Prasada Rao firmly denied plans to quit the YSRCP. “I will remain with the party. If the high command decides to field me for the Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat, I will accept the decision. If not, I will fully support the candidate they choose,” he asserted.
