Andre Agassi shared a fun memory from his playing days and it quickly turned into a sweet father-daughter moment online. The former World No. 1 tennis star posted a video on Instagram on March 10 showing how he looked during the 1990s, the decade when he became one of the biggest names in tennis.
The clip began with Andre Agassi today at age 55. A moment later, the video switched to old photos of him from the 1990s. Fans saw his famous long hair, bright outfits, and bold on-court style that made him stand out everywhere he played. The song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls played in the background.Andre Agassi kept the caption simple and wrote, “What a time…”Soon after, someone very close to him joined the conversation. His daughter Jaz Elle Agassi, whom he shares with tennis legend Steffi Graf, left a playful comment under the post.
Looking at her father’s bold outfits from the past, she joked and wrote, “Drippy brother.”The comment quickly caught attention because Andre Agassi’s fashion was almost as famous as his tennis. In the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, he was known for wearing bright colors, denim shorts, headbands, and flashy tennis shoes. His style helped bring a fresh and rebellious energy to the sport at the time. Today, many fans still remember Andre Agassi not only for winning matches but also for changing how tennis players looked and expressed themselves on the court.
Andre Agassi once recalled his bold 1990 French Open outfit and the tension it created with Philippe Chatrier
The bold look drew a lot of attention. Some fans loved it, but others in tennis leadership were not impressed. At the time, Philippe Chatrier, who was president of the International Tennis Federation, was reportedly thinking about introducing a dress code. Andre Agassi later explained how he reacted when he heard about that idea.He said,“At the time, (Chatrier) was thinking about bringing in a dress code. So I did what any noble person would do and I called him a bozo in the press conference.
That was a little bit regrettable, but it was an honest reaction to someone telling me what I had to wear.”Despite moments like that, Andre Agassi built one of the most successful careers in tennis history. He won eight Grand Slam singles titles and finished with 60 career singles trophies.Andre Agassi finally stepped away from professional tennis at the US Open in 2006. His final match came in the third round, where he lost to Benjamin Becker in New York.Even years after retirement, moments like his recent Instagram post show how fans still enjoy looking back at the personality, style, and memories that made Andre Agassi one of tennis’ most unforgettable stars.
