TMC opposes 'criminals netas' bill, refuses to nominate member for committee

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has announced it will not nominate any member to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the 'Criminals Neta Bill', also referred to as the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill. The party has been aggressively opposing the bill both inside and outside of Parliament. In a formal statement, the TMC declared its stance, stating, "In our view, this JPC is a farce." The TMC's opposition is rooted in the belief that the government lacks the required two-thirds majority to pass the constitutional amendment and that the referral to a JPC is merely a delay tactic, as political parties were not given adequate time to study the proposed legislation.
