The annual ‘Pavitrotsavam’ was performed in a grand manner at the Tiruchanur Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple here on Sunday. The three-day event concluded with the ‘Maha Poornahuthi’ ritual.

At Tiruchanur, special pujas were conducted on the concluding day. ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ (celestial bath) was offered to the deities of Goddess Padmavati, Lord Krishna and Sudarshana Chakrathalwar. Later, the idol of Chakrathalwar was taken to the temple tank and immersed as part of ‘Chakra Snanam’.

As the lunar eclipse concurred on the same day, the temple doors were closed for devotees at 2.15 p.m., immediately after the conclusion of ‘Pavitrotsavam’.

Joint executive officer V. Veerabrahmam, deputy executive officer Harindra Nath, assistant executive officer Devarajulu, priest Babu Swamy and others took part in the holy rituals.
