The Apache helicopters are likely to be delivered to India by the US after multiple missed deadlines. The first batch is likely to arrive this month.

After multiple missed deadlines, the first batch of three out of the six Apache helicopters is likely to be delivered to the Indian Army this month, sources said on Sunday.

Officials have expressed hope that the remaining three units of the Boeing AH‑64E Apache helicopters will arrive in India in the next few months, before the end of 2025.

The chopper, as per plans, will be deployed at the India-Pakistan border on the western front of the country. A squadron has already been raised earlier.

The delivery of the choppers has missed two deadlines.

India had signed a USD600 million deal with the US in 2020 for six Apache helicopters for the Indian Army. The first batch of choppers was expected to be delivered by June 2024; however, the timeline was pushed to December that year due to supply chain issues.

However, the Indian officials expect the delivery of three helicopters to be completed this month, with the remaining pack delivered by November.

The Indian Air Force already operates the Apache helicopters, a deal for which was signed in 2015, and all 22 AH-64E Apache helicopters have been delivered by 2020 and are operational in the forces.
