Apple has updated its list of obsolete products, adding three MacBook laptops to it. These older Mac models are now considered too old to be serviced or repaired by Apple or its authorised service providers.Apple typically classifies products as obsolete after they have been discontinued for five years or more. Once a product is classified as obsolete, Apple no longer provides technical support, spare parts, or repairs for the device. While these older Mac models may no longer be supported by Apple, users can still find third-party repair services or continue to use the devices as long as they are functional. The update includes the final version of the compact MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015), along with the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 4 Thunderbolt 3 Ports) and MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017).The 11-inch MacBook Air was discontinued in October 2016, shortly after Apple introduced the first MacBook Pro models featuring the Touch Bar. However, its addition to the obsolete list now suggests it may have remained available through select resellers until at least 2018.
Apple’s current MacBook Air lineup includes 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch models, but rumours hint at a possible return to smaller screens with a 12.9-inch MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip, expected to debut alongside the iPhone 16 Pro. In a related update, Apple also moved the iPhone 8 Plus (64GB and 256GB variants) to its vintage products list.
