New Delhi: Recently, Apple has announced that they are raising its product pricing in India. The company has significantly increased the prices of MacBook and iPad models in India, with several devices becoming as much as Rs 70,000 more expensive. Apple stated that the increase is the result of a global surge in memory and storage component costs driven by the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure. The consumer electronics industry is experiencing an unprecedented increase in the cost of memory (DRAM) and storage (NAND) chips.
Apple said that AI data centers are consuming enormous quantities of memory and storage chips. Chip manufacturers are prioritizing AI server demand over consumer electronics. Apple has absorbed the higher costs for some months, but could no longer continue doing so. Apple has now started to pass the portion of those costs to customers purchasing Macs and iPads.
Apple MacBooks and iPad price hike:
- MacBook Air 13-inch (M5) was launched at Rs 1,19,900, and it increased by Rs 30,000, and now it is priced at Rs 1,49,900.
- MacBook Air 15-inch (M5) was launched at Rs 1,44,900, and it increased by Rs 35,000, and now it is priced at Rs 1,79,900.
- MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) was launched at Rs 1,69,900, and it increased by Rs 70,000, and now it is priced at Rs 2,39,900.
- MacBook Neo was launched at Rs 69,900, and it increased by Rs 10,000, and now it is priced at Rs 79,900.
- iPad Air 11-inch was launched at Rs 64,900, and it has increased by Rs 25,000, and now it is priced at Rs 89,900.
- iPad Pro was launched at Rs 99,900, and it has increased by Rs 40,000, and now it is priced at Rs 1,39,900.
However, after raising the prices, the company acknowledged that customers would not welcome the decision but stated that the increase had become unavoidable due to unprecedented component inflation. Apple said it had shielded customers from the higher costs for as long as possible before implementing the latest pricing.
