P.A. Nazeer Khan, a self-made architect who designed palatial buildings across the country, passed away here on Sunday (August 17).
He was 65. Though not academically trained in architecture, the buildings planned by him were notable for their enormous designs and complex visual dimensions. Khan merged colonial architecture and Indian ‘vasthu’ traditions to design houses.
Mr. Khan had been running a private firm based at Eranhipalam in Kozhikode. He is survived by his wife Laila Punathil and children Abdul Wahid Khan and Nehla Nazeer Khan. The last rites will be performed at the Thoppayil Mosque burial ground on Monday (August 18).
