Arcot MLA S.M. Sukumar clarified, on Tuesday, that participation in a key review meeting held at the Collectorate on development works in the district made him skip the consultative meeting that was chaired by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the party headquarters in Chennai.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Sukumar denied reports about joining Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as he was one of the AIADMK legislators who supported the ruling party in the confidence vote in June. “The AIADMK party led by Mr. Palaniswami, party functionaries, and voters have made me win from the Assembly constituency. I will rather go to the graveyard than joining any other political party,” he said.
The Arcot MLA said that he had informed the party leadership about his inability to attend the consultative meeting at the AIADMK’s headquarters in Chennai. “As an elected representative of the constituency, I have to highlight various works that need to be done in the area at the review meeting in the Collectorate. I explained it to the party leadership,” he said.
Earlier, Minister for Cooperatives V. Gandhiraj chaired a review meeting on ongoing projects in the district at the Collectorate in the presence of Collector N. Priya, officials, and elected representatives.
