In a major crackdown on Sunday, the AGS Unit of the Crime Branch, Delhi Police carried out a search and seizure operation in Karol Bagh and Moti Nagar, and busted an organised racket involved in the sale and distribution of counterfeit mobile accessories of reputed brands. Two persons were arrested in the case.
During the operation, police sealed two godowns in the Ragerpura area of Karol Bagh, along with a factory setup in Moti Nagar used for printing packaging material. Officials said the facility was being used to manufacture and package counterfeit products by illegally printing brand names of OnePlus, OPPO and Realme using machines.
Police also seized eight machines used for producing fake packaging materials. A total of three premises were sealed, including a printing press and godowns used for storing and packing the goods.
According to Delhi Police, the accused were running a full-scale operation where counterfeit products were packed and sold as original items.
The perpetrators utilised various methods across social media platforms to market these counterfeit earbuds as authentic products and sell them at cheap rates. This illicit manufacturing and distribution operation had been running in Delhi for the past year.
Over 15k fake accessories recovered
A huge quantity of counterfeit goods was recovered during the raid, including 10,750 OnePlus Bullet wireless earphones, 8,000 OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W power adapter boxes, 105 boxes of OnePlus earphones and chargers, and 100 boxes of OnePlus earbuds. Items of Realme and OPPO were also seized, including 100 boxes each of Realme ear buds and wireless buds.
Police also recovered large quantities of packaging material, dye sheets, and finished counterfeit products, along with hundreds of assembled earphones and earbuds ready for sale.
The Crime Branch said the investigation is underway to identify the wider network behind the operation, including individuals based in China who are believed to be supplying and facilitating the counterfeit goods.
The social media platforms and channels used for advertising these products are also being examined as part of the investigation.
