Director of Secondary Health K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu has appreciated government hospitals falling under the Directorate of Secondary Health for performing complex surgeries instead of referring the patients to other hospitals.

From January 31, 2026, till recently, 32 complex surgeries were performed, while 18 government hospitals showed outstanding performance in implementing national health programmes.

Dr. Chakradhar Babu sent appreciation letters to 50 government hospitals.

The complex surgeries that were performed included a total knee replacement surgery, surgeries for rectal prolapse and a fibroid hysterectomy, a skin transplant surgery, removing a 9-kg tumour from a woman’s abdomen, among others.

Despite not having the best medical equipment, the doctors in these hospitals were striving to provide the best possible medical care, thereby reducing the financial burden on patients and saving them the trouble of travelling long distances, said Dr. Chakradhar Babu.

The best performers included Area Hospital, Dharmavaram, District Hospital, Parvathipuram, MCH Hospital, Adoni, Area Hospital, Anaparthi, Community Health Centre, Peddapuram, and District Hospital, Anakapalli.
