According to the complaint filed by the institute owner, he noticed a car parked in the middle of the road at Jijamata Chowk.
He asked the car driver, a student, why he had halted there.Furious over this, the car driver allegedly abused him, punched him and threatened to kill him. “The complainant also alleged that when some students from his institute came to rescue him, the driver and his friends assaulted them too,” Balip said. The officer said that the student also lodged a complaint against the institute owner. He claimed that the other man was driving dangerously and that he had asked him to drive properly.
Furious over this, the man called students from his institute. When the students started assaulting the complainant, his friends came to his rescue. The students also assaulted his friends, the officer said. The police have registered separate cases under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 189, 190 (rioting), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“We have issued notices to the accused involved in both cases,” he said.Balip said students were involved in both incidents. “The students are not aware of the consequences they may face after a criminal case is registered against them. They will not get govt jobs. Even getting a passport will be difficult for them,” the officer said.
