A dispute over a pet dog being allowed to urinate in a common area led to a scuffle among residents at an apartment complex in Bengaluru’s Varthur area.
The incident occurred at the Brigade Eutopia East apartment complex, where a resident, Tarun Arora, had taken his dog for a walk on March 3 in Block A.
According to the complaint, Arora allegedly took the dog to a designated walking and exercise area meant for senior citizens, where several elderly residents were exercising. When the dog urinated there, the seniors objected and asked him to take the pet to the separate pet dog park available in the apartment premises.
The argument soon escalated into a physical altercation, with around seven to eight senior citizens allegedly assaulting Arora by kicking and hitting him. A woman present at the spot intervened and tried to calm the situation.
Arora later filed a complaint at the Varthur police station. Meanwhile, a woman from the group of senior citizens also filed a counter complaint, alleging that Arora assaulted them and issued death threats when they questioned him about the dog.
Police said they have registered separate FIRs based on complaints from both sides, and further investigation is underway.
