Artificial limbs, aids distributed to needy persons

Aurobindo Pharma Foundation distributed artificial limbs, wheel chairs, walkers, hand sticks, and hearing aids worth ₹25 lakh to persons with disabilities and other beneficiaries on Tuesday at a programme organised on the premises of Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust at Mangalampalem in Kothavalasa mandal of Vizianagaram district.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the pharmaceutical company’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director K. Nityananda Reddy and Director P. Sarat Chandra extended support to needy people to help them lead a life of dignity and self-reliance, said the press release issued by the Trust founder Raparthi Jagadish Babu.

Mr. Jagadish Babu said that many youngsters who had lost their limbs due to accidents, electric shocks and other reasons got a new lease of life after being fitted with artificial limbs, in the presence of the company’s CSR wing assistant general manager Harikrishna and deputy manager Shankar. Mr. Jagadish Babu said that the trust would hold camps in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and other districts to identify people for providing artificial limbs and other assistive devices.
