Arunachal agri board bags SKOCH award for Mission Arun Himveer

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) has been conferred the SKOCH Silver Award 2026 for Mission Arun Himveer during the 106th SKOCH Summit – State of Governance at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.Launched in Nov 2024 by Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, the initiative guarantees payment to farmers within 24 hours, eliminates middlemen and is backed by a govt-created revolving fund.In his acceptance speech, APAMB chief executive officer Okit Palling said the Mission Arun Himveer is transforming lives of farmers in border areas, including Vibrant Villages, by providing a structured procurement system, a quick and hassle-free payment system, and no intermediary in the transaction.

He said women self-help groups from Tawang, Anjaw, Shi-Yomi, Upper Siang, and Dibang Valley account for over 90% of all suppliers.As of Jan 2026, over 200 metric tonnes of fresh vegetables have been delivered to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), strengthening livelihoods in border villages and fostering goodwill between farmers and jawans.Palling praised the efforts of officials from agriculture, horticulture, cooperation, and Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission in ensuring supplies to jawans on a daily basis.
