Iconic actor Bruce Willis was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia almost 3 years ago. Now, in a recent update, the star has been shifted to a special care home with a 24/7 care team on call. Not only that, but the actor’s wife as well as his children are living separately, too.
This recent update broke the fans' hearts as they found out about Willis’ declining health; however, many also called out his wife for taking the action. Now, Emma Heming is finally sharing her side of the story.
Emma Heming talks about her decision to move her husband Bruce Willis into a care home
Recently, during a special feature titled ‘Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey’, Heming delved into how life has been with Willis’s degenerative condition. In a recent move, she revealed that the actor has been shifted to a separate home away from the family in order to get 24/7 care around the clock for his treatment.
During the special, she shared, “Bruce would want that for our daughters. He would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs”.The move has drawn mixed reactions from the public. Some people have been praising Heming and showing their support over the hard decision, while others have been criticizing her for this shift.
In a social media post shared on her account on August 29, the entrepreneur shared her side of the story and talked about the “loud” comments that have been coming her way since the revelation.
She shared, "People with an opinion [are quick to judge] the caregivers. That is what caregivers are up against. Judgement from others and criticism from others”.She added on by saying in the video that, "Even if someone is closely familiar with dementia or the condition you are caring for, they aren't in your home, so they don't know how your person is behaving or your family dynamics”. While talking about the matter, she shared that she knew that revealing such details to the public would invite opinions and criticism as well. She finished her video by saying, "The truth is that the opinions are so loud and they're so noisy. But if they don't have the experience of this, they don't get a say, and they definitely don't get a vote”.
