Sunny Deol is thrilled to be juggling several exciting projects. He is currently in the final stages of an action-packed thriller, portraying a fierce cop who takes on the menacing Vijay Varma in the role of the antagonist. After that, he will transform into the mighty Hanuman for Nitesh Tiwari's much-anticipated 'Ramayana: Part 2' by the end of April.
On the day when the first look of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ has been unveiled, excitement around the epic only grows stronger, especially with Sunny Deol playing Hanuman in the film.
Riding high on the success of ‘Border 2’, Deol has also been juggling multiple projects. In early March, he began shooting for an untitled action thriller in Mumbai, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, which is already nearing the end of its first schedule.
Vijay Varma takes on the villain’s role
The film is mounted as a full-fledged action entertainer, with Sunny Deol portraying a cop in a rugged new avatar, complete with a moustache and beard.
Vijay Varma essays the antagonist. According to Mid-Day, reports suggest, “Over the past three weeks, the unit has been shooting all across Mumbai. They began with an action sequence, featuring Sunny and Vijay, in Film City, where a huge set depicting a carnival was erected.
”The shoot has covered several locations across the city. “Over the past fortnight, they shot at a bungalow in Bandra, then in a college near Churchgate, followed by a stint at Marol Police Camp in Andheri East,” the reports read.
The first leg of filming is expected to wrap up by March 30, marking a swift and intensive schedule for the team.
Transition to ‘Ramayana: Part 2’ in April
Following the completion of this schedule, Sunny Deol is set to shift focus to ‘Ramayana: Part 2’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The actor plans to finish shooting his portions as Hanuman by the end of April. “Sunny wants to complete his portions of Hanuman by April-end. In May, he will resume his cop role in Goa,” the source shared, adding that the action film is expected to be wrapped up by July.
Courtroom drama ‘Ikka’ also on the horizon
Earlier in February, Sunny Deol introduced his upcoming Netflix courtroom drama ‘Ikka’, which also stars Akshaye Khanna. With multiple genres in his lineup, from mythology to action and legal drama, the actor’s slate for the year appears both diverse and demanding.
