Asian Relays Championships: Indian Women's Team Clinch 4x100m Gold

The Indian women's 4x100m relay team clocked 43.85 seconds, a season best.

India ended its campaign at the second Asian Relays Championships in Shaoxing, China, on a high note, with the women’s 4x100m relay team clinching gold on the final day of competition on Sunday.

The quartet of Srabani Nanda, SS Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar and Tamanna produced a season-best performance of 43.85 seconds to secure the top spot on the podium and hand India a memorable gold medal.

India added two more medals to its tally through the mixed relay events. The mixed 4x400m relay team of Theerthesh Shetty, Poovamma MR, Bharath Sridhar and Neeru Pathak claimed silver after clocking 3:17.06 seconds.

Earlier in the day, the mixed 4x100m relay team won bronze in 41.27 seconds. Pranav Gaurav, Tamanna, Animesh Kujur and SS Sneha represented India in the event. Thailand took gold with a time of 41.14 seconds, while China secured silver in 41.29 seconds.

In the men’s 4x400m relay, India finished fifth in 3:05.33 seconds. The team comprised Theerthesh Shetty, Avinash Krishna Kumar, Suraj A Raja and Barath Sridhar. Vietnam won the event in 3:02.60 seconds, followed by China (3:03.23 seconds) and Sri Lanka (3:03.33 seconds).

The women’s 4x400m relay team also narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in 3:34.88 seconds. Saloni Nagar, Poovamma MR, Ansa Babu and Rashdeep Kaur made up the Indian team. Vietnam claimed gold in 3:31.16 seconds, China took silver in 3:32.68 seconds, and Kazakhstan secured bronze in 3:33.87 seconds.
