PUDUCHERRY: A 19-year-old college student, who was undergoing cricket training in Puducherry, died by suicide. D Nagar police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The deceased has been identified as Angel Gangwani, daughter of Kashmir Kumar.
Kumar, a GST superintendent, has been residing in Chennai for the past 12 years.For the last two years, Angel has been living in Puducherry, in a rented house in Sokkanathanpet. She was a second-year BBA student at a private college in Velrampet. AAngel was an aspiring cricketer who received training at a coaching centre in Thilaspet. She recently participated in selection trials for the Puducherry T20 cricket team held in Thutipet.
Her name was not included on the final list of selected players. Following this disappointment, she reportedly became dejected and remained withdrawn, said her house owner P Durairaj, 54.Durairaj, in his complaint, said Angel returned to her room around 8pm on Wednesday after cricket practice. When her coach, Kathirvel, attempted to contact her over the phone later that night, she did not answer. Growing suspicious, Kathirvel visited her residence and found Angel hanging from a ceiling fan in her room. He said he and her coach rushed her to govt medical college hospital in Kathirkamam, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
