Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday congratulated Sensational dancer Binita Chetry for securing the third position – second runner-up- at the grand finale of the internationally-famous reality show Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2025.
Wishing her all the best for her future endeavours, Sarma posed on X, “Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own #BinitaChetry on securing the 3rd spot at #BGTFinal. Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud."
Chetry from Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district scripted history by securing the third position at the famous reality show Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2025. British magician Harry Moulding won the competition while the second place went to LED dance group “The Blackouts".
The finals were held in the UK yesterday (May 31), and the winner took home a cash prize of £250,000 and an opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance later this year.
Earlier, Binita became the first contestant from India to reach the finals of the prestigious competition in the international stage. Her performances showcased remarkable agility and grace, leaving a lasting impression on both the panel and viewers.
During her audition, Binita Chetry charmingly shared her dream of winning the competition to buy a “pink princess house," a heartfelt aspiration that struck a chord with many. Her journey on BGT was highlighted by stunning performances, including a show-stopping finale to “Everybody Wants to Rule the World," which garnered widespread praise.
Despite not receiving a Golden Buzzer point of contention among fans who believed she deserved it-Binita advanced through the competition based on public votes, reflecting her broad appeal and the impact of her performances.
Binita’s success is attributed to the unwavering support of her parents, particularly her father Amar Chettri, a humble broiler farm owner from Bokajan, who played a pivotal role in her journey.
An executive member and district vice president of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), he had arranged for the nine-year-old’s dance training first in Guwahati and then in Jaipur.
She had also expressed her gratitude towards Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying she hoped to personally meet “Himanta Mama" and thank him for his “immense support and blessings".
“I want to personally meet our Chief Minister, Himanta Mama, in Guwahati and thank him for his immense support and blessings in my journey. I hope this message reaches him, and I get the opportunity to meet him," she had said.
